SILVER AVIONS AND CAYOS  a book by  Robert Muncy

The Link "Bob's View" at the bottom of my Webspawner Web-page presents the reasons why I wrote the book.  l would like to add that I think the book will be cherished by present and former Silver Avion owners.  The brief histories of the Avion Coach Company, the Cayo family, the Cayo Corporation, the Avion Travelcade Club, and the Silver Avion Fellowship provide some perspective concerning the production and use of these fine RVs.  The children, grandchildren, and other relatives of Silver Avion owners will find that the "Silver Avion story" explains to a degree why their "grand-parents" and others were so excited about their Avion.   And former Avioners (and factory employees) will enjoy nostalgic memories.  The book can be ordered by phone from our son's Music Company.  Call (828) 963-6487.  Use Credit Card or check.  The cost:  $24.95 plus shipping and handling fee--  $5.99.   Total cost:  $30.94.   We had a limited number of copies printed in this first run.  At this time, we don't plan to re-print the book;  but we will reprint  if sufficient demand justifies it.  We are promoting the book by direct USPS mail and by the internet.  We do not plan to place the book  in a bookstore.                                                      We ran into a number of difficulties in publishing the book.  With the enormous help of my son, Philip Muncy, we formatted the book to make it acceptable to a book printer.  I typed the entire text, selected the photos from my image archives (many were old slides that had to be downloaded to my computer photo gallery), selected what we thought would be an appropriate text font/size, arranged the text with page numbers in a book program (which was unacceptable at first to the printer), captioned the photos, arranged to send the book  to the printer electronically, pre-paid a portion of the printing fee, and waited for a proof copy to be prepared.  In this process, the book program crashed in view of the large volume of color photos, so Phil had to secure a new program format and we arranged the entire book (text and photos) in the new procedure.  After much frustration, we finally succeeded in getting the book printed.  And we are very pleased with it.

THINKING OUT LOUD:   As of this date (May 10,2011) we plan to retain quite a number of
RV photos in our personal Mobile Me Photo Gallery.  Each of these albums can be downloaded (there should be a button at the top of each album opened to download it). I tried this and indeed it compressed the album file and downloaded it to my Application file.  Each photo in the album can then be selected and probably copied and pasted wherever you wish.  It is my feeling that the history of the Cayo/Avion companies is pretty well covered in the my book (above).  At this time, Jewel Dee and I are spending quite a bit of time working with my hometown's effort to establish a Heritage Museum (Krum, Texas).  Feel free to explore these albums in my gallery.  Bob.
